Dock Wave
28'x20’x16'
recycled wood
Tampa, FL
2003
This piece was built to convey the turmoil created by the waves and winds of hurricanes, of docks tossed about in a storm, but is also reminiscent of the slot-canyons of New Mexico, where Chris was living at the time this was built. Continuing the theme of reclamation, this sculpture is made of four residential salt water docks that were to be scrapped. Placed in the inner courtyard of the College of Fine Arts building at the University of South Florida, this piece is a kind of homecoming for the artist, who received two degrees at USF.
